Introducing ZerO-In Dialogues
The ZerO-In Dialogues, starting January 2021 will expand the discussion from a singular net-zero building to high performing, smart, connected and flexible developments which have lower environmental impact. This dialogue series aims to create the momentum for a transformative push towards Grid-Interactive Net Zero Energy Buildings (G-NZEB). Such buildings are highly energy-efficient, grid-connected buildings that meet their energy needs through renewable means, while maintaining a two-way communication with the grid. The series are envisioned around four tracks - Policy, Design, Technology and Occupants. Stay tuned for the session details!

Opinion: Multiplying Zero Buildings - A survey of the issues
The fundamental approach to designing a Net-Zero Energy Building is to first explore areas to reduce demand and then assess potential for energy generation to meet the residue. Mr. Prasad Vaidya, Director - Solar Decathlon India opines, that the NZEB design effort is unique and different from that required for a low energy building. Energy modeling, monitoring, and attentive building operation matter more than usual. According to him, "The amount of renewable energy that can be generated sets the budget for energy consumption." Read the blog where he succinctly covers all the points about NZEBs

Showcase your project on the NZEB portal
The NZEB portal is a one-stop information site for net zero energy buildings. We would like to feature high performing and net zero energy ready buildings that demonstrate feasibility of the concept on this portal. If you are interested in showcasing a high-performance/ Net Zero Energy project you have worked on, or know of such a project, please share details through the form below.

Pitch to Policy Competition: Apply by December 27
'Pitch to Policy' (P>P) is a building policy intervention competition that aims to improve the sustainability of housing in India. It is organized by Global Building Performance Network (GBPN) and supported by ps Collective. P>P is calling for individuals or small teams to help streamline the implementation of Energy Conservation Building Code for Residential Buildings (ECBC-R, also known as EcoNiwas Samhita or ENS). Pitch your opportunity to promote affordable, thermally comfortable, low carbon residential buildings. The winners will become part of the GBPN network and may receive long-term support or be fully funded.

Jaquar Headquarters at Manesar, India
The Jaquar Headquarters is a meticulously designed facility featuring cutting-edge technology solutions resulting in a net-zero campus with a certified LEED Platinum (USGBC) rating. To ensure minimal dependence on artificial lighting and air conditioning, the three levels of the building were staggered, and the floor plate rotated at each level with a central atrium. This provided shading, reduced heat gain and permitted natural light to the internal spaces. The HVAC system comprises a conventional cooling system, radiant cooling, heat pump, VRF system and ventilation mechanism to serve varied functions. The project has installed a 971.4 kWp solar plant at the warehouse terrace and over the car parking space. Read the detailed case study.
