CII-Sohrabji Godrej Green Business Centre

The iconic CII - Sohrabji Godrej Green Business Centre was the first LEED Platinum New Construction v2 certified project outside the United States in 2003. This project catalyzed the green building movement in India. Recently, the building underwent an ambitious retrofit targeting the net-zero energy goal. It now features a 150 kW bifacial solar PV plant, an upgraded BMS and a highly-efficient chiller. The retrofitted GBC demonstrates and showcases the viability of establishing net-zero energy buildings. Learn more

Andhra Pradesh renews thrust on ECBC implementation

While Andhra Pradesh is one of the few states to have mandated ECBC 2017, commercial projects were able to bypass ECBC compliance due to pending updates in the state's Development Permission Management System software. The state is now set to fully integrate the ECBC clause in the software in 2020, enabling stringent implementation. Read more

Buildings in NYC will soon display their energy-efficiency grades
|
New York city is aiming to go carbon neutral by 2050. With buildings contributing to 2/3 of greenhouse gas emissions, the city has mandated mid and large-sized buildings to report their energy data to the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA). The buildings will need to display the energy efficiency grades they receive based on their performance. Read more

Low-energy Outdoor Active Cooling in Singapore (OACIS)
|
Singapore is testing a low-energy, outdoor cooling technology that uses solid state heat pumps for heat transfer instead of compressors. The OACIS uses 25%-60% less energy compared to conventional systems. The next step could be integrating OACIS into building HVAC systems, reducing infrastructural energy consumption. Learn more

About USAID MAITREE program
USAID-led Market Integration and Transformation for Energy Efficiency program (MAITREE) is a four-year bilateral program with the Ministry of Power. MAITREE supports efforts for moving towards a super-efficient and Net Zero Energy target for new buildings. EDS is the implementing partner of this program.
