Israel launches national energy efficiency plan for a decade

The national energy efficiency plan 2020-30 is expected to reduce 7.5% of greenhouse gas emissions per year equivalent to 6 million tonnes. The plan promotes the adoption of renewable energy and utilization of technologies that consume less fossil fuels. Electric mobility will be preferred and sale of polluting vehicles shall be banned. Global Warming heading towards 3.3Âş C rise by 2100

Bloomberg NEF’s study indicates that even with the expansion of renewables the planet is heading towards 3.3º C rise in global temperature by 2100. The emission are required to be slashed by 6% every year if it is to be contained below the desired 2º C rise said Matthias Kimmel, senior analyst at BNEF and co-author of the report. Read more

Green Homes get grants in England

Homeowners can avail grants of upto ÂŁ10,000 to adopt energy efficient reforms in their residences as per the Green Homes Grant scheme. Reforms could be a solid wall, cavity wall, underfloor, loft or roof insulation, or low-carbon heating, such as air-source or ground-source heat pumps, a biomass boiler or a solar thermal system.
