Electric Vehicle Charging Station Guidelines for Bangladesh

Adoption of “Easy Bikes” and electric three wheelers has been on the rise in the country of Bangladesh and the market potential for four wheelers is huge. To reduce charging inefficiency and uneven charging load the Govt of Bangladesh via SREDA introduced EV charging station guidelines. SREDA disseminates knowledge and awareness on EV and its associated subjects via online workshops, the recent workshop was held on 19 Aug 2020. Read more

JLL occupied buildings to achieve net zero carbon emissions by 2030

JLL signs World Green Building Council Net Zero Carbon Building Commitment to achieve decarbonization across global portfolios by implementing science-based target as aligned to the 1.5C ambition of the Paris Agreement.  JLL will seek to minimize the purchase of offsets by driving the take up of renewable energy and improving the energy efficiency of its portfolio as a priority. Energy Efficiency Services Ltd (EESL) in association with Govt of Andhra Pradesh will be installing energy efficient appliances in the 30 lakh house holds to be built under the EWS scheme.

“SiteRight” – a tool to help select locations for RE plants in India

The Nature Conservancy (TNC), Vasudha Foundation (VF), Center for Science, Technology and Policy (CSTEP), and Foundation for Ecological Security (FES) have collaborated to create a tool—SiteRight—to support decision makers to select locations for solar and wind projects that can help meet India’s renewable energy goals while avoiding adverse impacts to environment and people. SiteRight was launched at the New York Climate Week 2020.

SiteRight supports new renewable energy projects in places with viable resource potential but away from land areas rich in biodiversity and on which local communities depend. Read more

India’s largest floating solar plant of 5 MW to be set-up at Sagardighi, WB

India’s largest floating solar plant of 5 MW to be set-up at Sagardighi, WBHydrolio floating platform, made by French company Ciel & Terre will enable the solar modules of the plant to remain afloat thereby earning its name as floating 2solar plant. The project was supposed to be completed in April 2020 but because of Covid, everything was put on hold.Until the plan of 5 MW at WB, the 4 MW plant at Chittur, Tirupati was the largest floating solar farm in India. 10% of the GDP of Maldives is spent on importing fossil fuels

With the cost of the most efficient diesel plant being 23 U.S. cents per unit, the Govt of Maldives is focusing on installing solar power plants which generates power at half the cost of diesel plants per unit. A recent tender has been issued by the Govt to install 21 MW of solar power plant. Besides, solar power the country is putting efforts to tap wave energy and waste-to-energy, with a target to set-up  renewable energy capacity of 85 MW by 2023. Read more
