EESL orders 250 electric vehicles

EESL had floated a tender for the procurement of electric vehicles through an international competitive bidding process to boost the adoption of e-mobility in the market. Tata Motors Ltd and Hyundai Motor India Ltd won the tender and will be supplying 150 Nexon electric compact SUVs & 100 Kona electric premium SUVs respectively for government use. Read more

Adding Food loss and waste to national climate action plans will enhance the process of achieving SDG goals by 2030

A report published by the United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP) on strengthening food systems in the age of climate crisis stated that including diet and food loss to climate change plans can improve mitigation and adaptation contributions by as much as 25 per cent. Splitting of water could potentially be another renewable source of energy

Scientists are exploring the feasibility of splitting water molecules to obtain H2 and breathable O2. Feng Lin, Virginia Tech College of Science demonstrates a new technique to reassemble, revivify, and reuse a catalyst that allows for energy-efficient water splitting. The chemical experiment was performed with fresh water, but the team says that even salt water may be used to produce hydrogen fuel. Read more

Vedanta Aluminium, India’s highest producer of aluminium was conferred with Excellent Energy Efficient Unit for deploying processes that significantly improved energy efficiency in alumina refinery, through sustained process improvements.

Vedanta is also in the process of deploying advanced data analytics technologies in its power plants by incorporating both predictive and prescriptive analytics to enhance energy efficiency and improve sustainability of operations and reduce wastage and safety risks with minimal or zero human touch. OPWP issues RfP for 1 GW of solar projects in Oman

Oman Power and Water Procurement (OPWP) Company issues tender for two solar Independent Power Projects (IPPs) in Oman, namely Manah Solar I and Manah Solar II with a minimum power generating capacity of 500 MW each. NTPC is developing a 500 MW solar plant in Mali

Project Management Consultancy contract has been awarded to India’s state-owned power utility by Government of Mali. NTPC is already engaged in a similar PMC contract to develop 285 MW solar project in Togo. Mali’s total installed capacity is 660 MW, with 69% of oil-fired capacity and 28% of hydropower capacity.
