In line with the climate goals prescribed by the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change, both Glasgow and Edinburgh have set stringent targets which go beyond Scotland’s goal of achieving net-zero emissions by 2045.

While Glasgow’s energy sector is dominated by wind, the city is looking to decarbonise transport and heat while increasing renewable energy sources. Edinburgh is looking to reduce its carbon emissions through upping its renewable energy sources, constructing energy efficient buildings and producing food locally.
