SUMMARY:Overview | IGBC Net Zero Rating System
DESCRIPTION:The Indian Green Building Council (IGBC) has launched the Net-Zero Energy Rating System in association with the World Green Building Council and the United States Agency for International Development (USAID). The rating system seeks to complement the National Mission for Enhanced Energy Efficiency and the National Solar Mission. While recognizing that energy efficiency is the first step towards advancing net-zero\, the council aims to facilitate buildings to enhance their energy efficiency on a continuous basis and meet the energy demands through renewable sources. \nThis live webinar brings on board the Counsellor at IGBC -Dr. Shivraj Dhaka to present the IGBC Net-Zero Energy Rating System including the program requirements\, compliance approaches and process of achieving the certification\, along with interesting insights into net-zero strategies for the existing CII Godrej building. \nThis webinar is part of ‘NZEB Knowledge Series’ – an initiative supported by USAID’s MAITREE program (http://maitree.edsglobal.com) to accelerate the discussions and catalyse actions on Net Zero Energy Buildings in India. This webinar-series will bring industry experts to share knowledge\, expertise\, ideas and showcase innovative products/projects/technology that can fuel discussions on building energy efficiency and grow engagement for NZEBs. \nRegister now: https://attendee.gotowebinar.com/register/769439736275761677 \nUpcoming events: http://www.nzeb.in/upcoming-events/

SUMMARY:Godrej Plant 13 Annexe : an IGBC NZE Rated Building
DESCRIPTION:Godrej & Boyce- the pioneer of green buildings in India- has achieved the next level of high-performance design with its Plant 13 Annexe- a 24\,443 square metres office-cum-convention centre in Mumbai and the first in the country to achieve the ‘Net Zero Energy Rating’ under the IGBC Rating system. Built in 2008\, the building exemplified sustainable performance through thoughtful design right from its inception- with 90% daylit spaces\, 36% energy reduction\, 86% water saving and 100% waste recycling. Further improving its operational and monitoring system efficiencies helped it finally accomplish the net-zero energy target in 2019. \nRumi Engineer\, business head of green buildings at Godrej\, has championed the company’s green building initiatives for over 30 years. As a veteran of the green building industry\, there is no one better than him to share Plant 13 Annexe’s incredible story- the journey of an existing high-performance building towards net-zero targets! Hear him dive deep into the approach\, process\, and challenges behind the project. \nRegister now: https://attendee.gotowebinar.com/register/769439736275761677\n\nUpcoming events: http://www.nzeb.in/upcoming-events/

SUMMARY:Evaporative Cooling Technologies
DESCRIPTION:Given a predominantly hot climate in India\, nearly half of a typical commercial building’s energy demand comes from comfort cooling making it a critical factor in deciding building performance. The type of cooling system plays an important role in the overall energy efficiency\, comfort\, operational cost of a building and its environmental impact. Modern evaporative cooling systems are a great low energy alternative to conventional refrigerant based systems – they are relatively inexpensive\, clean\, energy efficient and highly versatile. \nShamkant Mirashi\, head of ‘Arka Clean Technology‘\, has over a decade’s experience of designing evaporative cooling systems for industrial-scale setups. A serial entrepreneur in energy efficient tech\, he has perfected low-energy cooling systems for retrofit as well as greenfield projects\, designed and built around an entirely home-grown heat exchanger. In this webinar\, he will discuss different types of evaporative cooling technologies and their applications. He will explain how contemporary designs can work across climate types and why he believes indirect evaporative cooling-assisted HVAC is the future of low-energy cooling. \nThis webinar is part of ‘NZEB Knowledge Series‘ – an initiative supported by USAID’s MAITREE program to accelerate the discussions and catalyse actions on Net Zero Energy Buildings in India. This webinar-series will bring industry experts to share knowledge\, expertise\, ideas and showcase innovative products/projects/technology that can fuel discussions on building energy efficiency and grow engagement for NZEBs. \nRegister here- https://attendee.gotowebinar.com/register/399166001743293709 \nUpcoming events: http://www.nzeb.in/upcoming-events/

SUMMARY:Occupant perspectives | NZEB at CEPT University
DESCRIPTION:The Centre for Advanced Research in Building Science and Energy (CARBSE) in CEPT University\, Ahmedabad houses some of the world’s most cutting-edge research in energy-efficient building design. At the same time\, it’s a living laboratory in itself\, operating as a net-zero energy building. As a result\, the building provides invaluable lessons in designing\, constructing and operating a net-zero energy facility. \nClocking an EPI of 25.4 kWh/ m2/ year in 2018\, the building uses a combination of active and passive strategies to first reduce its energy demand\, followed by on-site solar energy generation. One of the highlights of this lab is that the cooling can switch between different modes of operation depending on outdoor conditions.  A Smart Building Management System continuously collects and monitors thermal comfort\, energy consumption\, and environmental data. Using rigorous monitoring\, data analysis and integrated controls – the building has been operating at its highest efficiency since the last 5 years. \nThis webinar  brings on board two foremost members of the CARBSE team- the Exective Director\, Prof. Rajan Rawal and Technical Head\, Dr. Yash Shukla. Prof. Rawal has pioneered energy-efficient building research and policy in the country for over two decades. Dr. Yash\, Technical Head at CARBSE\, is recognized for his growing body of research in the field. Together\, they bring their expert insights and rich experience of designing\, occupying and managing an exemplary Net Zero Energy Building in India. \nRegister here: https://attendee.gotowebinar.com/register/3379519811920587276 \nUpcoming events: http://www.nzeb.in/upcoming-events/
