SUMMARY:IGBC Green Building Congress 2020
DESCRIPTION:With a modest beginning of 20\,000 sq.ft of green footprint in the country in the year 2001\, today( as on March 2020) over 5\,918 IGBC green building projects\, amounting to 7.17 Billion sq.ft are adopting IGBC green building rating systems. This in turn has enabled India become one of the top 5 countries in the world in terms of largest registered green building footprint.  IGBC aspires to facilitate 10 billion sq.ft of green building footprint  by 2022 (75th year of India’s Independence). \nTo realize this vision and further advance green building movement in the country\, IGBC has been organising its annual flagship event since 2001 onwards which has been evoking excellent response from the stakeholders. Over the years\, the event grown significantly in terms of content\, outreach and participation.  Today\, Green Building Congress has consolidated itself as India’s annual flagship event on green built environment. Leading national and international stakeholders will converge at the event to share\, learn and explore new growth opportunities. \nTo further advance green building movement in the country\, IGBC is organising its 18th edition of Green Building Congress during 29\, 30 & 31 October 2020 on the CII HIVE Virtual Events Platform\, India. In line with the global spotlight on people and health\, the theme for this year is: ‘Hygiene\, Health and Wellbeing’ in Green Built Environment. The annual Green Building Congress for this year has been conceptualised differently to pave way for new opportunities for the building sector\, in view of the ongoing pandemic and the challenges ahead\, The event has also been designed to be a platform to discover new ways of working for the sector.

SUMMARY:NZEB Knowledge Series | Low energy cooling and ventilation strategies for tropical residences
DESCRIPTION:Register now  \n \nThe webinar will present design and control of low energy cooling and ventilation strategies suitable for residences located in tropical countries. These strategies have been developed under the research project funded by the Engineering and Physical Research Council – Global Challenges Research Fund (EPSRC-GCRF) and is carried out by Loughborough University\, UK and Centre for Advanced Research in Building Science and Energy (CARBSE) at CEPT University. The webinar will explain the process of designing suitable ventilation openings for natural (NV) and mixed-mode (MM) residential buildings in tropical countries. The webinar will describe intelligent control algorithms that harness natural ventilation for residences to optimize indoor air quality and thermal comfort\, whilst minimizing the use of air-conditioning. The webinar will also share the expected energy and comfort benefits of implementing the low energy cooling and ventilation strategies in tropical residences. \nAbout the speaker:\nDr. Yashkumar Shukla is Technical Director (Energy Systems) at Centre for Advanced Research in Building Science and Energy (CARBSE). He has more than fifteen years of international experience in building energy-efficiency research and serves as a lead on several energy-efficiency research projects at CARBSE. His current research includes calibration of simulation models\, performance characterization of envelope and HVAC systems\, net-zero energy buildings\, and development of next-generation control algorithms. He has extensive experience in the building management systems\, building energy analysis\, HVAC system operation\, component characterization facilities\, development of test chambers\, building simulation modeling\, and energy efficiency control algorithms. \nThis webinar is part of ‘NZEB Knowledge Series’ – an initiative supported by USAID’s MAITREE program (http://maitree.edsglobal.com) to accelerate the discussions and catalyse actions on Net Zero Energy Buildings in India.
